Troubleshooting Circuit Breakers
Step 1 – Find and open the panel
Find your circuit breaker panel. It can be inside the basement, closet, garage or even on the outside of the home.
Step 2 – Figure out the breaker that has tripped
- The tripped breaker will not be in the “On” position, it will either be “Off” or somewhere in between.
- Some breakers show red when they have tripped.
Step 3 – Reset the breaker
This is relatively safe and easy thing.
CAUTION: If there are burn marks, sparks or anything that looks out of place stop and contact Grey Falcon Properties.
- To reset the breaker, just turn it completely to the “Off” position and then back to the “On” position.
- You should hear a click when it sets into “On”
- Some older breakers need to be completely turned to “Off” twice before they can be turned to the “On” position.
Please enter a Service Request on the Grey Falcon Properties Portal if the breaker continues to trip there may need to be further troubleshooting done by our vendors.
troubleshooting GFCI
Step 1 – Finding the GFCI
In some cases lights or outlets will stop working. It will seem like the breaker has tripped, and in a way it has. The GFCI outlet will trip like a breaker to make sure that people are not electrocuted while around water. GFCI will be installed usually in kitchens or bathrooms. Sometimes there are GFCI’s in other places like garages, but this is not normal.
Step 2 – Reset the GFCI
To reset a GFCI outlet, you just press the rend reset button on your outlet.
NOTE: You need to reset all the GFCI outlets that are installed. Just because the outlet doesn’t have them, other outlets in the circuit might have tripped.
If you have reset them all and the outlets are still not working, then please enter a Service Request on the Grey Falcon Properties Portal.
